Chapter 2: In Memoriam

Chapter 6: The Ghoul in Pyjamas

Chapter 8: The Wedding

Chapter 10: Kreacher's Tale
Harry, Ron, and Hermione interrogate Kreacher, who reveals the story of how Regulus Black discovered Voldemort's Horcrux and sacrificed himself to retrieve the locket. Chapter 11: The Bribe
Lupin visits Grimmauld Place and offers to accompany the trio on their mission, revealing that Tonks is pregnant. Chapter 13: The Muggle-Born Registration Commission
Harry discovers Moody's confiscated magical eye on Umbridge's office door and retrieves it. He finds Umbridge in the courtrooms wearing Slytherin's locket while interrogating Muggle-borns with dementors. Harry and Hermione Stun Umbridge and seize the locket Horcrux. The trio escape the Ministry but inadvertently bring a Death Eater to Grimmauld Place's doorstep, compromising their hiding place and forcing them to flee into the countryside.

Chapter 14: The Thief

Chapter 15: The Goblin's Revenge

Chapter 16: Godric's Hollow
Harry and Hermione travel to Godric's Hollow on Christmas Eve, disguised with Polyjuice Potion. They find the war memorial that transforms into a statue of the Potter family, and visit Harry's parents' graves in the churchyard. They also spot Dumbledore's family graves and notice the sign of the Deathly Hallows on one of the headstones. An old woman they believe to be Bathilda Bagshot beckons them to her cottage.

Chapter 17: Bathilda's Secret
Harry and Hermione follow Bathilda Bagshot to her cottage, but Harry discovers the old woman is actually Voldemort's snake Nagini hiding inside her corpse. The snake attacks and summons Voldemort; Harry experiences a vision of Voldemort's arrival at Godric's Hollow on the night he killed his parents. Hermione saves them with a Blasting Curse, but Harry's wand is broken in the escape.

Chapter 18: The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore
Recovering from the attack, Harry reads excerpts from Rita Skeeter's biography and discovers that Dumbledore was once close friends with the dark wizard Grindelwald. A letter in Dumbledore's own hand reveals that as a young man he shared Grindelwald's vision of wizard dominance over Muggles. Harry's faith in Dumbledore is badly shaken, and Hermione struggles to console him as they continue camping in the wilderness.

Chapter 19: The Silver Doe
While keeping watch alone, Harry follows a mysterious silver doe Patronus to a frozen forest pool where the Sword of Gryffindor lies beneath the ice. Chapter 20: Xenophilius Lovegood
