Think you know The Wheel of Time inside out? The Dark Tower back to front?

Help build the resource you wish you'd had.

OpenFiction is a spoiler-safe encyclopaedia for fiction, built entirely by readers who know their series inside out. Every character, every appearance, every connection - contributed and verified by people who've read every page.

What we're building

Most wikis are a minefield. Look up a character mid-series and you'll know exactly how they die before you've got there. OpenFiction filters everything to your reading progress, so readers can explore safely no matter where they are in a series. That only works if the data is accurate, detailed, and well-sourced. That's where contributors come in.

What you can contribute

Character appearances

Track where characters show up in each book - whether they're the point-of-view character, appear on page, or are just mentioned. Chapter by chapter.

Life events

Record the moments that change everything - deaths, injuries, transformations. Pinned to the exact chapter they happen.

Physical attributes

Eye colour, hair colour, distinguishing features - with the book reference to prove it.

Relationships, abilities and more

How characters connect, what powers they hold, which factions they belong to, and how all of it changes across a series.

How it works

You don't need to know everything. Pick a series you know well, find a character page that needs work, and add what you know. Every contribution goes through a curator review before it goes live - so if you're unsure about a detail, submit what you have and leave a note. It's better to contribute something imperfect than nothing at all.

Reviews usually happen within a few days. You'll be notified when your contribution is approved.

Build trust, become a curator

Contributors with a strong track record may be invited to become curators - reviewing other contributions, managing content requests, and helping shape the platform. There's no application process, just a track record of accuracy and good judgement.
