Part 1: The Little Red King: Dan-Tete
Chapter 1: Callahan and the Vampires
Father Father Callahan and Jake Chambers enter the Dixie Pig to rescue Susannah Dean, armed with the skoldpadda turtle and Orizas. Callahan holds the low men at bay with the turtle while Jake fights through the kitchen. When the Type One vampires (Grandfathers) emerge from behind a tapestry, Callahan uses his cross and Roland Deschain's voice commands Jake to flee. Callahan kills two enemies before turning the gun on himself rather than be consumed by the vampires, dying a gunslinger's death. Chapter 2: Lifted on the Wave
Eddie Dean and Roland Deschain, driving John Cullum's car in Bridgton, Maine, are struck by aven kal - a tidal wave running along the Path of the Beam. They are lifted todash and witness Susannah Dean and Mia in the Fedic birthing room, connected by steel helmets. Susannah sees them and speaks the word 'chassit' (nineteen). They then witness Jake Chambers and Father Callahan entering the Dixie Pig. Roland enters Callahan's mind to command Jake to flee, and Eddie does the same moments later. Chapter 3: Eddie Makes a Call
Eddie Dean and Roland Deschain return to consciousness in Cullum's car on Kansas Road. They sense Father Callahan's death and feel the vampires' bites as phantom pain. Eddie realises they cannot immediately go to Turtleback Lane to find Susannah Dean - they must first secure the vacant lot deed with Moses Carver to protect the rose. Roland suggests contacting John Cullum as their dan-tete, and Eddie reluctantly agrees, knowing their window in 1977 is a one-time opportunity. POV: Eddie Dean·On page: Roland Deschain·Mentioned: John Cullum, Calvin Tower, Stephen King
Chapter 4: Dan-Tete
Susannah Dean witnesses Mia's baby being born in the Fedic infirmary, counting her enemies and planning to seize Dr Scowther's gun. The link between her and Mia breaks after the birth. She briefly contacts Jake Chambers telepathically before losing the connection. The baby - Mordred Deschain - is born and immediately transforms into a spider creature, killing Mia by consuming her. Susannah seizes her chance during the chaos, shooting several enemies and escaping with the help of a maintenance robot named Nigel. POV: Susannah Dean·On page: Mia, Richard Sayre, Mordred Deschain, Jake Chambers
Chapter 5: In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle
Jake Chambers fights his way through the Dixie Pig's kitchen, killing a warthog chef and cat-creature with Orizas, then beheading low men who pursue him through the door. He encounters Jochabim, a dim washerboy from Mid-World, before following Oy's tracking of Susannah Dean's scent. Jake descends through underground passages beneath the restaurant, fighting more pursuers, and eventually reaches the New York/Fedic door. He passes through to find Susannah on the other side. POV: Jake Chambers·On page: Oy·Mentioned: Susannah Dean
Chapter 6: On Turtleback Lane
Eddie Dean and Roland Deschain drive Cullum's old Galaxie up to Turtleback Lane in Lovell, having just steered Stephen King clear of the walking accident that would have killed him. John Cullum is waiting for them on Kansas Road, exactly as Roland predicted, and takes them on to Dick Beckhardt's lakeside cottage. Over the best part of an evening, with a great storm hanging unbroken above the lake, Eddie tells the whole tale and sets Cullum up as their dan-tete in this world: he is to track down Moses Carver, Susannah's godfather, link up with Aaron Deepneau, and organise the Tet Corporation to protect the rose and the vacant lot against Sombra and North Central Positronics. They hand Cullum the bill of sale that gives title to the lot. To convince Carver that Odetta Holmes is truly still alive, Roland lifts the fine silver chain from around his own neck - Aunt Talitha's cross from River Crossing - and gives it to Cullum as a sigul; the cross speaks aloud in Susannah's voice, sharing a private memory of burying her childhood cat Pimsy under the apple tree, a thing only she and Daddy Mose ever knew. Roland keeps no gun for himself: he straps the sandalwood-gripped revolver on Eddie and tells him to wear it. The storm builds on as they prepare to leave Cullum behind and find the magical door waiting somewhere along Turtleback Lane. POV: Eddie Dean·On page: Roland Deschain, John Cullum·Mentioned: Calvin Tower, Susannah Dean
Chapter 7: Reunion
Roland Deschain and Eddie Dean follow Cullum to Cara Laughs on Turtleback Lane, where an extraordinary doorway of light stands open. They pass through it directly into the corridor outside the Fedic door, where they find Flaherty and his posse of low men and vampires. Roland and Eddie dispatch them all in a devastating gunfight - Eddie takes the first six, Roland the next five, and they finish the rest together. They speak 'chassit' to open the door, and are reunited with Susannah Dean and Jake Chambers. The ka-tet embraces, whole once more. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy·Mentioned: John Cullum
Part 2: Blue Heaven: Devar-Toi
Chapter 1: The Devar-Tete
The reunited ka-tet examines Mia's dissolving corpse in the Fedic extraction room. Roland Deschain asks Susannah Dean and Jake Chambers to recount their adventures. They discuss the turtle skoldpadda, the bowling bag, and the role Stephen King plays in creating objects that help them. The robot Nigel returns and Roland questions him before sending him to bring food. Susannah nearly reveals her vision of King's death but is interrupted by Nigel's return, and the crucial information goes unspoken. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy·Mentioned: Stephen King
Chapter 2: The Watcher
The infant Mordred Deschain, growing supernaturally fast, watches Roland Deschain's ka-tet on security monitors in the Fedic control suite. He tries to activate hunter-killer robots and poison gas but fails. Meanwhile, the ka-tet sleeps in Nigel's quarters. Susannah Dean senses Mordred watching them and recognises - with maternal instinct - that he has already gotten to Nigel. Mordred rapidly matures, already understanding his purpose: to kill his White Father, Roland. POV: Mordred Deschain·Mentioned: Roland Deschain, Susannah Dean, Eddie Dean, Jake Chambers
Chapter 3: The Shining Wire
Walter o'Dim arrives in the control suite to meet Mordred Deschain, wearing a 'thinking cap' lined with shining wire that he believes blocks telepathy. He kneels before Mordred and pledges himself, planning to use the infant to reach the Dark Tower. But Mordred has already breached Walter's mental defences and is ransacking his mind for information. After learning what he needs, Mordred transforms into his spider form and devours Walter o'Dim, ending the ancient sorcerer's millennia-long life. POV: Mordred Deschain·On page: Walter o'Dim
Chapter 4: The Door Into Thunderclap
The ka-tet wakes and finds Nigel has broken down. Oy leads them through underground passages following a robot-scent to a staging area with Susannah Dean riding a rolling table. They find a working teleportation device and step through into Thunderclap Station - a vast switching yard beneath a dark grey sky. Three men are waiting: Ted Brautigan Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw, and Stanley, who have escaped from the Breaker compound. Ted urges them to hurry before the Weasel's guards arrive. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy, Ted Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw
Chapter 5: Steek-Tete
Ted Brautigan, Dinky, and Stanley lead Roland Deschain's ka-tet through the labyrinth of Thunderclap Station to a shipping office. Using Stanley's psychic teleportation ability, they transport the entire group to Can Steek-Tete (the Little Needle) - a rocky formation overlooking the Breaker prison Algul Siento. Ted begins explaining the compound, the Breakers, and how the operation works to destroy the Beams that hold the Dark Tower in place. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy, Ted Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw
Chapter 6: The Master of Blue Heaven
Pimli Prentiss, the Master of Algul Siento (Blue Heaven), is introduced along with his Security Chief, Finli o'Tego (the Weasel). We see their daily routines, their uneasy awareness that something feels wrong, and the compound's structure - a luxurious prison where psychic Breakers unknowingly work to destroy the Beams. Ted Brautigan Brautigan continues explaining the operation to Roland Deschain's ka-tet, describing how the Breakers are kept comfortable and compliant. POV: Pimli Prentiss·Mentioned: Ted Brautigan
Chapter 7: Ka-Shume
A heavy feeling of ka-shume (the sense of an approaching break in the ka-tet) settles over the group after Ted Brautigan, Dinky, and Sheemie depart. In a cave on Steek-Tete they find sleeping bags, weapons, and a motorised three-wheeler that Susannah Dean claims as her own. Roland Deschain discovers the Lady of Shadows Tarot card and recognises the feeling as ka-shume - soon one of them will die. They also find crates of military weapons including AR-15 rifles and sneetches (explosive devices). POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy·Mentioned: Ted Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw, Sheemie Ruiz, Walter o'Dim
Chapter 8: Notes from the Gingerbread House
Ted Brautigan Brautigan's voice fills the cave from a reel-to-reel tape recorder, explaining the Breakers and Algul Siento in detail. He describes the 'Gingerbread House' - a pocket reality created by Sheemie's powers - and how he, Dinky, and Sheemie formed their unlikely alliance. Ted explains the psychology of 'morks' (psychics), how the compound operates, and provides crucial tactical information about guard rotations, weak points, and the layout that Roland Deschain will need for his attack plan. POV: Ted Brautigan·On page: Roland Deschain, Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Dinky Earnshaw, Sheemie Ruiz
Chapter 9: Tracks on the Path
Roland and Jake share a quiet pre-dawn moment on Can Steek-Tete, smoking cigarettes and watching Algul Siento brighten below them. Roland reveals that his throbbing hip and cracked-feeling head are the writer Stephen King's injuries bleeding through to him. When Jake asks why Roland is so angry, the gunslinger first denies it is aimed at the boy, then plays a touch-game in which Jake forces the answer free: Roland's fury is at King. Because King grew lazy and afraid and stopped doing the work ka meant for him, the ka-tet now has two jobs instead of one, and it will cost them dear. Roland then shows Jake spider tracks on the path: Mordred has been watching them in the night and listening to their plans. Roland scuffs the tracks away, telling Jake to keep silent so Susannah is not distracted, since her thoughts would be easiest for Mordred to read. POV: Jake Chambers·On page: Roland Deschain, Oy·Mentioned: Stephen King
Chapter 10: The Last Palaver (Sheemie's Dream)
Sheemie arrives at their cave in a seizure, having used his powers to teleport with a Rod (a Child of Roderick) and Dinky. Roland Deschain calms him with whispered words. Once recovered, Sheemie delivers final intelligence about the compound. Ted Brautigan and Dinky confirm the attack plan with Roland. Sheemie, overjoyed to see Roland again, pledges to help them escape after the battle by 'making holes' between worlds. Roland assigns the Rod the crucial task of planting sneetches inside the compound buildings. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Susannah Dean, Eddie Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy, Sheemie Ruiz, Ted Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw
Chapter 11: The Attack on Algul Siento
The attack on Algul Siento begins at dawn shift-change. Susannah Dean opens fire from her Cruisin Trike position. The sneetches planted by the Rod ignite, setting fire to Damli House, Warden's House, and Feveral Hall simultaneously. Roland Deschain, Eddie Dean, and Jake Chambers strike from the south using the boxcar for cover, throwing Orizas and firing rifles. The battle is swift and devastating - nearly fifty guards die. But Eddie is shot in the head by Master Pimli Prentiss during the fighting, suffering a mortal wound. POV: Roland Deschain·On page: Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, Oy, Pimli Prentiss, Ted Brautigan, Dinky Earnshaw, Sheemie Ruiz
