The Great God Om, trapped in the form of a small, battered, one-eyed tortoise. Once a powerful deity worshipped by millions, he has been reduced to near-powerlessness because his followers believe in the Church rather than in him. He is irritable, demanding and self-centred, but gradually learns empathy through his dependence on his sole true believer.
