A bearded, corpulent earlier Patrician of Ankh-Morpork (per the Discworld Companion) who reigned in The Colour of Magic and signed the heaviest taxes the Thieves' Guild had ever shrugged off; not to be confused with the later, leaner Lord Havelock Vetinari who is sometimes mistakenly identified with him.
