Responsibilities
What being a curator involves day-to-day.
Role overview
Curators are the quality backbone of OpenFiction. You bridge the gap between community contributions and what appears on the site, ensuring everything is accurate and well-organised.
Content management
Reviewing contributions
Check submissions from contributors for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Approve good contributions, request changes when needed, and provide clear feedback when rejecting.
Managing requests
Review incoming content requests, decide whether to approve them for voting, and see them through from submission to completion.
Adding content directly
Curators can add and edit content directly through the curator dashboard, including creating new books, series, and characters.
Community management
Guiding contributors
Help new contributors understand quality standards. Write clear, constructive feedback that helps people improve rather than discouraging them.
Handling reports
Review reports from users about inaccurate content or problematic behaviour. Take appropriate action - from correcting data to escalating serious issues.
The curator dashboard
Curators have access to a dedicated dashboard section with tools for:
- Reviewing and managing contributions
- Processing content requests
- Creating and editing entities (books, series, characters, etc.)
- Handling reports
- Viewing contribution queues and backlogs
