The remnant of the Dunedain of Arnor, wandering guardians who protect the lands of Eriador, including the Shire, from the servants of the Enemy. Secretive and weather-worn, they are regarded with suspicion by those they protect. Aragorn is their Chieftain, and their ancestry stretches back to the kings of the North-kingdom. They join Aragorn in the War of the Ring, riding with him through the Paths of the Dead.
