The Great River of western Middle-earth, flowing south from the Grey Mountains through Wilderland, past Lothlorien and Gondor to the Bay of Belfalas. It serves as a major boundary and route of travel throughout the Third Age. The Fellowship travel by boat down the Anduin after leaving Lothlorien, and the river's lower reaches pass between the hostile territories of Mordor and Gondor.
