An ancient forest at the southeastern end of the Misty Mountains, home to the Ents and one of the oldest woodlands in Middle-earth. The forest is named after its eldest inhabitant, Fangorn (called Treebeard by the Hobbits), who is the oldest living creature in Middle-earth. Merry and Pippin flee into Fangorn after escaping from the Uruk-hai, and their meeting with Treebeard sets in motion the Ents' march against Isengard.
