The Tower of the Guard, the greatest surviving city and fortress of Gondor during the War of the Ring. Built on a hill with seven levels, seven concentric walls, and seven gates, it is constructed largely of white stone. Originally known as Minas Anor, the Tower of the Setting Sun, it became the capital of Gondor after the fall of Osgiliath. The Battle of the Pelennor Fields is fought on the fields before its walls.
