The Lord of the Nazgul, chief of the nine Ringwraiths and Sauron's most powerful servant. In the Third Age he established the evil realm of Angmar and waged war against the North-kingdom of Arnor, ultimately destroying it. He later becomes the commander of Sauron's forces at Minas Morgul. An ancient prophecy declares that no man can kill him, a prophecy fulfilled when he is slain at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields by Eowyn and the Hobbit Merry.
