The ancestral sword of the kings of the Dunedain, forged by the Dwarf-smith Telchar of Nogrod in the First Age. Elendil wields Narsil in the Last Alliance against Sauron, and the sword breaks beneath him when he falls. Isildur uses the broken hilt-shard to cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand. The shards of Narsil are kept as heirlooms by Aragorn's line until the sword is reforged as Anduril.
