Originally Minas Ithil, the Tower of the Rising Moon, a beautiful fortress of Gondor in the mountains above Ithilien. It was captured by the Nazgul and became Minas Morgul, the Tower of Sorcery, a place of dread and dark enchantment from which the Witch-king commands Sauron's western forces. Its sickly luminescence and corrupted beauty mark it as a perversion of what it once was.
