The climactic battle at the end of The Hobbit, fought at the foot of the Lonely Mountain (Erebor) after the death of the dragon Smaug. Five armies converge over Smaug's hoard: the Dwarves of Thorin Oakenshield, the Elves of the Woodland Realm, the Men of Lake-town, and the allied forces of Orcs and Wargs. The timely arrival of the Eagles helps turn the tide in favour of the Free Peoples.
