A people of the upper Anduin valley, followers and descendants of Beorn, the great skin-changer who could take the form of a bear. Beorn himself fights in bear-form at the Battle of Five Armies, turning the tide of the conflict. The Beornings guard the passes of the Misty Mountains and the fords of the Anduin, keeping the trade routes safe from Orcs and Wargs during the later Third Age.
