A decisive battle during the War of the Ring, fought at the fortress of the Hornburg in the valley of Helm's Deep. The forces of Rohan, led by King Theoden, defend against a vast army of Orcs, Uruk-hai, and Dunlendings sent by Saruman. The battle ends when Gandalf arrives with reinforcements and the wild tree-spirits known as Huorns destroy the fleeing enemy.
