Vicious crustacean creatures that inhabit the beaches of the Western Sea, resembling a cross between scorpions and giant lobsters. They are four feet long with bleak eyes on stalks and sharp, serrated beaks. When waves come in, they assume 'The Honour Stance,' holding their claws in the air until the water crashes over them. Most dangerous at night, they constantly murmur 'Dad-a-chum? Did-a-chick? Dum-a-chum? Ded-a-chek?' They are responsible for claiming two of Roland's fingers and some of his toes at the beginning of The Drawing of the Three.
