The ritual bonfire lit during the Festival of Reap in Mid-World. The term means 'Come Reap' in the old tongue. In the days of Arthur Eld, living people were burned on this fire as sacrifices. By Roland's time, stuffy-guys (effigies) were burned instead. The charyou tree carries dark associations throughout the Dark Tower series, most painfully in connection with the fate of Susan Delgado in Hambry, where the old practice was revived with terrible consequences.
