The Sombra Corporation, along with its real estate subsidiary Sombra Real Estate, attempted to acquire the Vacant Lot containing the Rose in New York City. They hired the gangster Enrico Balazar to pressure Calvin Tower into selling, and their vice president Richard P. Sayre (actually a can-toi) orchestrated numerous schemes on behalf of the Red King. Sombra operates across multiple levels of the Dark Tower.
