The vast ocean bordering Mid-World to the west, along whose lobstrosity-infested beaches Roland made his way northward in The Drawing of the Three. It was on these beaches that Roland lost two fingers and some of his toes to the lobstrosities, and where he found the three magical Beach Doors through which he drew Eddie Dean, Susannah Dean, and (indirectly) Jake Chambers into Mid-World. The Western Sea marks the boundary between the habitable lands and the unknown.
