A waterborne people who travel the fens and waterways of Lyra's England in narrowboats, similar to Romani or canal-dwelling communities. They are led by John Faa, the King of the Gyptians, and Farder Coram. The Gyptians are fiercely loyal to their own and play a crucial role in the rescue expedition to Bolvangar.
