A mountain in the Blasted Lands, far north of the Blight, where the Dark One's prison lies close to the world. During the Age of Legends it was an idyllic island in a cool sea, but the Breaking reshaped it into a place of uttermost darkness. The Pit of Doom within Shayol Ghul is where the Bore - the hole drilled into the Dark One's prison - can be sensed, and it is here that the Last Battle's final confrontation takes place.
