Three binding oaths sworn by every Accepted upon becoming full Aes Sedai, enforced by the Oath Rod (a ter'angreal). They are: to speak no word that is not true; to make no weapon with which one person may kill another; and never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn or Darkfriends, or in the last extreme defence of her own life or that of her Warder or another Aes Sedai. The Oaths physically bind the swearer and, it was later discovered, significantly reduce an Aes Sedai's lifespan.
