Large gemstones that grow naturally within certain creatures on Roshar, most notably chasmfiends. They are enormously valuable as they can hold Stormlight and be used in fabrials or as currency. The competition to harvest chasmfiend gemhearts drives much of the conflict on the Shattered Plains.
