The magic system of the world of Nalthis in which practitioners use BioChromatic Breath - a piece of Investiture that every person is born with - to animate objects and give them commands. The more Breaths an Awakener holds, the more powerful their commands and the more objects they can animate. Breath can be freely given from one person to another, creating a trade economy around this innate resource. Reaching certain thresholds of accumulated Breath grants passive Heightenings - enhanced colour perception, perfect pitch, ageless immortality, and other abilities.
