The perilous journey across the Shadow Fold that travellers and military convoys must undertake to reach West Ravka. Crossings are conducted in armoured sand skiffs, guarded by Grisha and soldiers, and are always dangerous due to the volcra that inhabit the darkness. Many crossings end in tragedy.
