Shadow soldiers created by the Darkling through merzost, the forbidden power of creation. Unlike ordinary shadow manipulation, the nichevo'ya are independent entities made of living darkness, capable of fighting and killing on the Darkling's behalf. Creating them requires enormous power and further corrupts the user. They are nearly invulnerable to conventional weapons and can only be destroyed by the Sun Summoner's light.
