Chaumurky was a constant threat in the courts of the Great Houses, leading to elaborate precautions including the employment of poison snoopers, food tasters, and Suk doctors trained in poison detection. Emperor Elrood IX was killed by chaumurky shortly after his son Shaddam IV exposed an assassination plot against himself before the Imperial Court.
