The comprehensive system of water conservation that formed the foundation of Fremen culture on Arrakis. Every aspect of Fremen life revolved around the preservation of moisture, from the wearing of stillsuits to the elaborate rituals surrounding birth, death, and daily water distribution. Water was considered holy beyond all other things. The dead were processed through deathstills to reclaim their water for the tribe, water rings served as currency and symbols of social status, and the deliberate wasting of water was among the gravest offences in Fremen society.
