The great sandworms of Arrakis, also called the Old Man of the Desert. Specimens can grow over 400 metres long. The sandworms produce melange through their lifecycle and are central to Fremen religion. The Fremen ride them using maker hooks. When spoken with reverence, the name designates the earth deity of Fremen mythology.
