An ancient military order sworn to guard the Wall and defend the realms of men against threats from beyond it. Brothers of the Night's Watch take vows of celibacy, hold no lands, take no wives, and serve for life. Once a prestigious calling, the Watch has dwindled to a shadow of its former strength, manned largely by criminals, outcasts, and the desperate. It is organised into three orders: Rangers (who patrol beyond the Wall), Builders (who maintain the Wall), and Stewards (who handle logistics).
