A colossal barrier of ice stretching three hundred miles across the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms, standing seven hundred feet high. Built thousands of years ago to defend against the Others and the threats of the far north, the Wall is manned by the Night's Watch. It is infused with ancient magic that prevents the dead and the Others from crossing. Nineteen castles were built along its southern face, though by the time of the story only three remain occupied.
