A volcanic island fortress in Blackwater Bay, the westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Freehold and the ancestral seat of House Targaryen before the Conquest. Its walls are decorated with dragon carvings, and the castle's towers are shaped like dragons. After the fall of the Targaryens, Dragonstone passed to Stannis Baratheon. Dragonglass (obsidian) is found in abundance on the island.
