The first of five rebellions led by the descendants of Daemon Blackfyre, a legitimised bastard son of King Aegon IV Targaryen who claimed the Iron Throne. The original rebellion occurred in 196 AC and ended at the Battle of the Redgrass Field, where Daemon was slain. The Blackfyre pretenders continued to trouble the Targaryens for generations, supported by the Golden Company in Essos.
