The Iron Price
Concept
A core tenet of ironborn culture, holding that a man's worth is measured by what he takes through combat and raiding rather than through trade or purchase. Possessions bought with coin are said to be paid for with the 'gold price,' which is considered shameful by traditional ironborn. The iron price is central to the ironborn identity and their worship of the Drowned God.
