A fertile region in the east of Westeros, protected by the Mountains of the Moon and ruled from the Eyrie by House Arryn. The Vale's natural defences make it nearly impossible to invade, and its people have a reputation for honour and pride. The mountain clans who inhabit the peaks prey upon travellers, making the high road treacherous.
