The Forsaken - who call themselves the Chosen - are thirteen of the most powerful channellers of the Age of Legends who turned to the Dark One during the War of Power three thousand years ago. Sealed in the Bore alongside the Dark One, they were released when the seals on his prison began to weaken. Each Forsaken is virtually immortal, immensely powerful, and utterly ruthless - they spent an age in the Dark One's prison and emerged more dangerous than before. They operate largely independently, pursuing their own ambitions while nominally serving the Dark One, which makes them as much a danger to each other as to the forces of Light. Named Forsaken include Ishamael (also known as Ba'alzamon), Lanfear, Sammael, Rahvin, Graendal, Semirhage, Demandred, Asmodean, Moghedien, Mesaana, Balthamel, Aginor, and Be'lal.
