Profile Settings
Your display name, email, and account details.
Changing your display name
Your display name is shown alongside your contributions and on your profile. You can change it at any time from your profile settings.
Click the pencil icon next to your name, type your new name, and press the tick to save. Display names must be between 1 and 50 characters. Certain names are reserved (such as those that could be mistaken for staff roles) and can't be used.
Your email address
Your email address is set when you create your account (or inherited from Google if you sign in with Google). It's used for password resets and account notifications.
If your email is unverified, you'll see a prompt on your profile page to send a verification link.
Account roles
Your role determines what you can do on the site. Most users are contributors, which means you can submit content requests, vote, and suggest edits.
- Contributor - the default role for all users
- Curator - can create and edit content directly, review contributions, and manage requests
- Admin - full access to site settings and user management
Your current role is shown as a badge on your profile page.
Account statuses
Most accounts are active. In rare cases, an account may be placed into a different status:
- Restricted - all contributions require curator review before publishing (temporary)
- Suspended - you can still browse the site but can't contribute (includes an expiry date and reason)
- Banned - permanent block from contributing
If your account is restricted or suspended, you can learn more on the reputation and trust page.
