A small, irregular moon of Saturn where the protomolecule was first discovered. Phoebe is not a natural satellite but a captured extrasolar object - a delivery mechanism sent toward Earth billions of years ago by the protomolecule's creators. It missed its target and was caught by Saturn's gravity instead. Protogen's research team discovered the alien substrate within Phoebe's ice and began studying it in a station built on the moon's surface. When the Eros incident threatened to expose the programme, Mars destroyed Phoebe Station to prevent the protomolecule from falling into other hands, driving the moon into Saturn's atmosphere.
