The concluding volume of the Liveship Traders trilogy resolves the multiple crises of the sequence in a conclusion that is more conventionally satisfying than the Farseer ending while retaining Hobb's characteristic refusal to let resolution come cheaply. The sea serpent storyline reaches its conclusion in ways that reframe much of what has preceded it and connect the Liveship world explicitly to the deeper mythology of the Elderlings. Character arcs that began in apparent opposition find unexpected resolutions, and the novel's treatment of Kennit in particular generated considerable discussion. Ship of Destiny leaves Bingtown and the Rain Wilds changed in ways that will matter for the Rain Wild Chronicles that follow.
