Tarman's sentience is quieter and less demonstrative than Vivacia's or Paragon's but no less real, and his connection to the river and to Leftrin gives him a distinctive presence among the sequence's living ships. Keeper of dragon Kalo; a calculating young Rain Wilder who fancies himself a leader and philosopher. Has been conducting a secret relationship with Jerd. Was influenced by the hunter Jess into proposing that the dragons be slaughtered for profit - a proposal roundly rejected by the other keepers.
